Dean Kostos is the author of This Is Not a Skyscraper, selected by Mark Doty for the Benjamin Saltman Poetry Award, published by Red Hen Press in 2015. Kostos's earlier collections include Rivering, Last Supper of the Senses (required reading at Duke University), The Sentence That Ends with a Comma, and the chapbook Celestial Rust. He also edited the anthology Pomegranate Seeds: An Anthology of Greek-American Poetry; its debut reading was held at the UN. He co-edited the anthology of personal essays Mama’s Boy: Gay Men Write about Their Mothers, a Lambda Book Award finalist. His poems, essays, and translations have appeared in over 300 publications, including on Oprah Winfrey’s website Oxygen.com, in The Bangalore Review (India), Bayou Magazine, Barrow Street, Big City Lit, Boulevard, Chelsea, Cimarron Review, Cincinnati Review, Confrontation, The Dos Passos Review, Mediterranean Poetry (Sweden), Rabbit Ears (anthology), Rattapallax, Reading Brokeback Mountain (anthology), Saint Peter's B-List (anthology), Southwest Review, Spoon River Poetry Review, Stand Magazine (UK), Talisman, Token Entry (anthology), Vanitas, The Wallace Stevens Journal, Western Humanities Review, and Zone 3. His literary criticism has appeared on the Harvard University Press website, in Talisman, American Book Review, and elsewhere. His poem "Amadou Diallo's Ghost Reminisces" was a finalist in Jot Speak's Poetry Competition (UK). He has co-translated poems from Spanish with Jaime Manrique for Bomb.
